Re: Prophecy vs F1

I'm still riding the F1

I tested a number of prototypes over the winter... the F1 always felt better.

I haven't tried the latest incarnation, as I like dialing in my setup in the fall, or in the spring, and not so much in the middle of the year.

The newest F1s are a softer flex than in years past. The latest prophecys are slightly lighter due to the carbon top. The new ski allegedly turns faster with less effort. The f1 still works great for me... and it's the cheapest ski on the market. (still).

Re: Prophecy vs F1

Wade,
My LSS has a Connelly that has the Prophecy graphics on the bottom, but an F1 shaped top with black fabric. They say the got them in the spring. Is this an F1 or a Prophecy? Or a Prophecy prototype?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Prophecy vs F1

Hey Mike, I have the same ski!  I had actually bought it off of e-bay where it was advertised as an F1 with a prophecy top, but now I'm not so sure exactly what it is.

Re: Prophecy vs F1

Bern

that is one of the first prophecy's

we had them in our store when they first came out... what i was told by our rep was they they were built using the F1 top becuase Jamie was skiing on the Prophecy but they still wanted people to think he was on an F1

do not worry... you recieved a Prophecy... you could almost consider it a Limited edition... haha

Re: Prophecy vs F1

Really?  I find that very exciting since I thought I was buying an F1.  I wonder if mine is different though, because mine has an F1 looking bottom, and the top is pure black mesh and has a silver emblem saying prophecy.  The indents on the tip of the ski look the same as they would on an F1, so I'm truly confused as to whether or not we're really talking about the same ski!

But if you're right, and it is a prophecy, can you give me recommended fin/binding settings?

Re: Prophecy vs F1

It's an early model prophecy. Blue & white '08 style graphics on the bottom right?

What is the ski size & your height/weight?

Re: Prophecy vs F1

That's correct Wade.  It's a 67" ski and I'm 6'1", about 155 pounds.  What do you recommend for fin settings?

Also, I just joined this site as I've only recently been getting into slalom, and I just want to thank you guys for all that you do.  This site is such a great help and a great addition to the slalom world.

Re: Prophecy vs F1

Try starting at 2.512 6.846 (tips) and .760 (tail). I've started a Virtual Lesosn Thread that only you can see; you can keep me posted with your fin tweak there.
