Eco Friendly Binding Lubricant

With all the water skiers using lubricant to get their feet in their boots do you know of any healthy stuff
that won't harm our lakes. I have seen every thing from Ivory soap to vaseline?

Re: Eco Friendly Binding Lubricant

I once had a friend conduct an environmental impact summary using a mix of 5:1 water to regular palmolive dish soap... and found that because of the infinitesimal proportion (a couple ounces of soap to millions of gallons of water) there is virtually no harm caused by this mixture.

Vaseline sounds like it would hurt the boots?

Radar boots, Fogmans don't need soap at all?

Spit would probably be even more environmentally friendly?

Re: Eco Friendly Binding Lubricant

There is something called "Soap Buddy" which is an eco-friendly lubricant, works like soap, and doesn't wear down the rubber on your bindings. Your best bet is the gallon jug that comes with a nifty pump.

Re: Eco Friendly Binding Lubricant

with most bindings i have found that with a little effort you can get in without anything. When that fails though i go to shaving cream. most of which is bio degratible

Re: Eco Friendly Binding Lubricant

I've seen shaving cream leave a white residue on bindings.
I personally dilute down some commonly available bio-degradable dish soap and put it in a spray bottle.

Re: Eco Friendly Binding Lubricant

i would suggest staying away from anything that is being sold as "binding lube" because they are just trying to get more money out of you. beyond that i think its hard to go wrong

Re: Eco Friendly Binding Lubricant

Buy Radar boots and you will not need any soap ever again.  That stuff never comes out of the carpet in the boat.  I can't wait for the day we don't need it in the boat!

I agree with Chris completely.  A life long Animal user, I switched to RS1s this year.  I'll never go back.  The comfort level between them and my Animals is night and day.  Not to mention the support.  And like Chris said - no soap!
