Looking for a life vest advice

Hi all slalom skiers

First, Thanks for the ski advice I got from you all some time ago!
I am happy after my first three slalom evenings this season!

Now I need an advice for a vest and kindly ask for your experiences?

My criteria’s are:
- Reasonable safe (does not need to be coast guard approved but not too far of)
- Easy to wear during a run
- Some impact protection as long as it does not become an obstacle
- Few zippers and buckles (if any) that disturbs or hinders.
- Dry rather quickly

I am still a beginner but am prepared to purchase a dedicated slalom vest at high quality (price).

Grateful for advices and discussions around this topic!

Peter

Re: Looking for a life vest advice

I was in the same place as you a month and a half ago.  Looked at all the options and decided on the Radar Strada Impact Vest.  Love it.

I wanted a comp vest with buoyancy and protection.  I had some major thoracic surgery a few years ago and am very protective of my chest now.  I was afraid of going to a non coast guard approved vest.  I've had two really good chest pounding wipeouts with the Strada and didn't feel a thing.  Very happy with my choice.

Brian
PS. I think it looks cool too!

Re: Looking for a life vest advice

HO syndicate Candidate comp if you can find one.  It is the sweetest vest i have ever put on.  THe molded kind stay in place better than the neoprene kind.  I have an O'neill Outlaw (neoprene), and it has been good for years, but this new HO vest is awesome.   I have been trying to get one from the local dealer, but they are way backordered.

^^I also have a Oniel outlaw and i really like it.  It is really comfortable and hindrance free while still floating rather well.

If you like the outlaw, check out the O'neill Guru comp vest.  I have two.  No zippers and fits great.
