slalom handle . guardian

Hi ive just been browsing on you tube and spotted a guy making something called a guardian . also another video showed a guy using one while training . was wondering what the idea of it is

It is a bridle cover meant to keep your head out of the bridle, limit the amount of your forearm that you can shove into the handle, and otherwise deflect the handle with a glancing blow when you fall. If someone is making it with a bucket and tin-snips, then it is a homemade knockoff of Thomas Wayne's device call the Arm-Guard.
